JULY
NEWSLETTER Hello Everyone! I am finding it hard to believe that it is already
July 1st! Where did June go? I realize that our summer season is short but let's not rush it! I am hearing
from many of our ladies that they are thinking about the holidays and what wonderful things they want to create for gifts.....
We have been receiving many of our Fall/Winter yarns so that everyone can be inspired early. Lang, Berroco and
Tahki have some beautiful fibers and patterns for the coming season. Vintage Wool now has a chunky weight in
the same great colors as Vintage worsted. Two new yarns from Berroco are Campus which is a bulky tweedy blend and
Borealis which is a wool and acrylic blend that has a beautiful sheen and comes in variegated rich jewel tones. Our
Blackstone Tweed has new colors and all of these yarns have new patterns to go with them. The new Tahki and
Filatura yarns will be in this month with some whimsical novelty yarns for scarves and hats.... Our new
Alpaca with a Twist is luscious, and comes in a tweed along with some gorgeous heathers in DK and lace weight.
The new sock yarns are also coming in with great new patterns and stripes. Believe me, I do not want to rush into Fall, but it is so
exciting every season to see and touch the new yarns and look at all the new styles and patterns .... (I know you know what I mean!!!) We even have some samples hanging and being knitted as
we speak. Don't forget, it is easy to take a pair
of socks, hat or scarf on the boat, to the beach, in the car, on your deck, to the pool.... the possibilities for small projects
to travel with you in the summer are endless.... so let's get creative!!! As I said in June's newsletter, we will only
be offering a few classes every month, but you can schedule a class with any of our teachers for one, two or a group for the
same class price of $15.00 for two hours per person... For more information please call the shop at 761-2031. CLASSES: Beginner
and Advanced Beginner Knit: Saturday, July 10th from 10:30 to 12:30 Learn to knit right from the beginning
or tone up those rusty skills... this is a class you mold to your own needs.... Cost: $15.00 plus materials Two
Socks on the Magic Loop: (2 classes) Saturday, July 10 and July 24 from 1:30 to 3:30 Everyone is
enjoying doing two socks on one long circular needle... you must have sock experience to take this class. Caution!
The Magic Loop is as addicting as knitting basic socks!!! Cost: $30.00 plus materials Oragami
Easy Summer Scarf: Saturday, July 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 This scarf is hanging in the shop and is
quite stunning... A great gift or addition to your summer wardrobe.... Cost $15.00 plus materials Dye
Class: Saturday, July 17th from 10:30 to 12:30. We can't say enough about this class.... everyone who
takes it is amazed at the beautiful hand dyed yarn they create. You choose from fingering weight (sock yarn),
DK weight or worsted weight yarn and then pick your colors.... you will be surprised at what you get!! Bring a project
to work on while the yarn is cooking! Cost: $25.00 includes all supplies Basic Sock: (2 classes)
Saturday, July 17th and July 31, from 1:30 to 3:30. This is the class anyone who has never tried socks should take.
You learn to knit in the round, use double pointed needles, turn a heel and do the kitchener stitch for the toe. Once
you make a sock, the majority of knitters I know become addicted to knitting them. They are also great to wear and make
perfect gifts. Cost: $30.00 plus materials Easy Felted Bag: Saturday, July 24th from 10:30 to
12:30. A cute first felting project for advanced beginner knitters. This bag is hanging in the shop and can be
used as a small purse, or cosmetic bag.... it can also be decorated for any occasion. Cost: $15.00 plus materials Easy
Child's Shrug: Saturday, July 31st from 10:30 to 12:30. Knitted from the top down, this cute little shrug
is short sleeved and has a one button closure.... we have it hanging in the shop and you can pick from a large assortment
of colors to knit it in. Cost: $15.00 plus materials Knitted Beaded Necklace: Saturday, August 7th from
10:30 to 12:30. There are an assortment of these necklaces throughout the shop. This has always been a popular
class and everyone is amazed that you can create these beautiful necklaces in 2 hours. You will leave with one completed!!!
Cost: $15.00 plus materials As always, we would love to hear your suggestions for classes that you would like. We also
want to invite all of you to our Social Knits on Tues. 2:00 to 4:00, Wed. 10:30 to 12:30 and Thurs. 5:00 to 7:30. These
times are free of charge and held so that you can work on your projects while making new friends and enjoying the company
of people who love fiber as much as you do. We will be open our usual hours for the 4th of July holiday weekend. From the 24th of July till August 2nd I will have GONE FISHIN!!!!
